Josh and I met in Auckland, New Zealand in January 2020. I'm from Sweden, but I had lived in New Zealand for 6 months at that point. We went on a fist date, but Josh had decided that long distance would be too hard. After about two months of only being friends, I told him that I didn't just want to be friends after all. And Josh decided to give dating a go! This was the weekend just before the whole world closed their boarders, so because of Josh, I decided to stay in New Zealand all through lockdown and up until my visa expired in December last year. Josh followed me in March, and we got engaged on the 27th of March. We had already planned it, but it still caught me off guard!

Platsen för bröllopet

Källa Gamla Kyrka on Öland was our absolute dream venue. The old stone church was rustic and unique. Josh and I both wanted a venue that you couldn't find in New Zealand, and Källa Gamla Kyrka was a medieval structure that obviously cant be found in a young country like New Zealand. Our reception took place in an AirBnB garden not too far from the church. It was simply but lovely!

Om klädseln

Ioana: Joshua already had a good suit. It is green and it suited him very well.
For our Sigtuna wedding I used a dress that I got for a very discounted price. I had it because I had planned to do a styled photoshoot for my newly started photography business. So I decided to use that dress instead of my main one to make both days more special.

For our church wedding I had decided long before I met josh that I would love to get married in my grandmothers dress, that had been hanging in a wardrobe at home for 60 years. I took it to Sofia Corneskog Courture, and she helped me make the dress into my own. We lowered the back, added som buttons, and made the waist fit me better. I absolutely loved the results!

Styling och accessoarer

For our Sigtuna Wedding I decided to just curl my hair. I kept things simple, but I still felt beautiful! For our Church Wedding on Öland I decided to go with a veil. It had been worn by 4 other people in my family, and is about 85+ years old. My sister made my hair, and we did a simple updo with a low bun in the back. It was a bit challenging, becuase my hair is quite short.

Blommorna

For our church wedding I decided to order some cut flowers from a local flower shop, and then I made my own bouquet. I liked the results and got a lot of compliments, but I wouldn't have minded to have practiced a little more if time would have allowed. I used eucalyptus, peonies, roses and dry grass.

Vigseln

Our church ceremony was honestly everything we could have ever wished for! The venue was stunning, and the music was magical. Our pastor held a wonderful sermon, and we loved every single moment of it. At the end we had a chat to everyone watching online, and it was a special moment. We were lucky that all the technology worked in our favour!

Bästa minnet från dagen

My best memory from our church wedding was entering the church in tears. It really hit me at that moment what was about to take place. The song I walked into with my dad was Daughter by Ulrik Munther. The lyrics just fits so well you mine and Joshys life together, and my friends did and amazing job with the music.

Vigselringarna

I had a good friend down in New Zealand that also was Swedish. I used to go to her and we made silver jewellery togehter. When Josh and I started to talk about marriage and engagement rings, I said that it would be so lovely if I could design the rings myself, and if Petra could make them for me. It felt like the rings had a part of New Zealand and a part of Sweden in them, not to mention that I love my rings so so much! They are absolutely perfect!

Om bröllopsfotografen

On Öland we had Malin Wengdahl as our photographer. She is super talented, calm and kind. We really enjoyed our day with her, and she stayed for longer than she needed to, enjoying the cake and some speeches. My friend filmed our wedding day, and he is also very talented. Now we are waiting for our last photos and our video with a lot of excitement!

Middag/Fest

On Öland we had our reception in a garden, and because it was midsummer we decided to make it feel like a midsummers party! We had food that my mum prepared, and some garden games. Our friends from all over the world had created a beautiful video for us, my family held speeches and some friends did a full on musical about my life! Absolutely amazing.

Tips till andra

Because we experienced to very lovely yet different wedding days, one that was completely planned for us, and one that we created completely by our selves, we have seen benefits of a wedding planner! One thing you don't want to remember is how stressed you were, and hiring a wedding planner that can sort a lot of details out for you is a huge help!
