Rural Wedding With Elements Of Disney And Magic: Josefin + Martin
Today we have a wonderful and creative wedding to show you. Josefin and Martin got married on June 30th, 2018 and arranged a rural wedding with Disney influences. Isabell N Wedin / Turturduva stood behind the camera and captured all moments, colors, love and joy and we imagine that it must have been a dream wedding to get a photograph as a photographer - so many lovely details! Sit back, enjoy and take in all the inspiration of this week’s love story. And hey, don’t forget that you can find all the previous love stories in the menu under Love Stories.
How the couple met
The bride Josefin tells us: Martin and I met through a common friend who invited us to the same party in November 2014. Martin was interested in me from the very beginning, but I was a little more difficult to persuade. A few weeks later, I sprained my foot and Martin wanted to help me by going out with my dog in the evenings. That went smooth because we both lived in the same area and in the buildings opposite each other. After that we started spending more time together and became interested in each other. January went on and I had a trip planned to Miami to study for being a bartender and that resulted in the whole relationship starting with a whole month apart. On Valentine's Day, Martin sent me a large bouquet of roses to Miami and then I knew this was the right man for me! Close after that we moved in together. On April 1st 2016 in our newly purchased apartment, in all the moving chaos, he got down on one knee and proposed to me.
Theme and inspiration
Josefin: Already after the engagement we started talking about the wedding, we both knew that this wedding would take a long time to plan to get as we wanted it. We started in good time and booked the venue, porcelain, cake and photographer as all this was important parts of our theme. We quickly agreed that it would be a theme in rural style with elements of Disney and magic. We wanted our day to feel like a fairytale! Colors that dominate our home and many of our choices are blue and pink in pastels, so this would be a real pastel party! We wrote on the invitation that guests would also wear an accessory in just these colors to tie everything together a bit extra.
When you start planning a wedding, it feels like you are inspired by so many different things. We got to sort out afterwards as we had decided that a fairy tale is what we want! We found a lot of inspiration on Pinterest, but where I was very careful to never copy an idea straight away, but rather further develop my inspiration, which resulted in us making a lot of the decorations ourselves to get the perfect look. To get the perfect feeling we watched a lot of movies that were close to our heart and picked out parts of them that we wanted to recreate on the wedding day with music and emotions.
The wedding dress + accessories
Josefin: The wedding dress was such a thing that I started to search for directly on various inspirational pages, but that took longer than expected to decide on! Well I was out a little in the last second with the dress anyway because it takes 3 months to get home! When I visited shops for wedding dresses at first, I had a clear picture of how I wanted it in my head, but that was something completely different in the end. For all future brides, I recommend to try out dresses that you have not imagined from the beginning, If I had not had this open mind I would never have found my fantastic dream dress.
The project with the dress was what took the longest time, the bridesmaids’ dresses were ready about 1 year before and the same with the groom and the groomsmen’s clothing as well as the suspenders and bow tie we chose to get a vintage style. The most important thing for us regarding clothing was that everything would work together colorfully and create a harmony of pastel colors! My father also got extra styled this day with suspenders, floral shirt in pastel and a bow tie with disney theme in purple pastel in the same color as Martin, but with another motive.
Josefin: As a hairdresser I wanted to put color in focus instead of an up do. Since I have had pink hair for a longer period, it was obvious to have it on my wedding day! The idea of changing one's style for just one day was not for me, you want to look back at pictures and feel that "this is me!". As a partner to a hairdresser, Martin had previously been a target on my color experiments and had silver hair in the spring. For our wedding, we agreed that even he would have a pink tone in his hair to match! Which was a success!
Josefin: I also love odd things and found a fantastic hairpin from a woman in England who resembled quartz crystals in the color theme pink and blue in pastel.
The location of the wedding
Josefin: I started to sit and search around in different places that would suit just such a theme, with a vintage or rural feel. Agneshill was the place where it felt right instantly! We booked that location 2 years before to be sure of getting the exact date we wanted, June 30, 2018 and that just Agneshill is in Gessie, Sweden made it extra special since we have part of our family, which unfortunately no longer exists with us, that are buried there.
Rural, romantic, nice nature but still easy for all guests to get there. Agneshill is divided into 3 parts. The ceremony room, mingle and dinner and then the bar room which made you move during the evening. Couldn't get better!
Josefin: As a bride I’m a bit special since I have worked as a florist for several years before. We chose our date after the availability of flowers and the flowers of nature. Here, too, a pastel theme of pink, white and blue was concerned with silver and green elements. The florist, however, had to redo my bouquet twice, but after that it became what I wanted! The bridesmaids bouquets and Martin’s corsage became a variant of my bouquet though smaller. We arranged with all other flowers ourselves.
Josefin: The minutes before a wedding is really special, you can't really explain the feeling until you stand there yourself! I'm not a person who gets nervous but also I shook the bouquet on the way into the wedding room. Everything was so magical! Getting all our loved ones in one place at the same time, with music that matters to us. But everyone who knows us knows that there is always a surprise, something always happens a little extra regardless of when. Our wedding began with a princess disney medley from the most famous films as the entry song, followed by "A million dream" from the movie The Greatest Showman, "A thousand years" from Twilight and as the exit "A dream is a wish your heart makes" from Cinderella.
At this time, our guests began to wonder if this was it? Wouldn't it be a surprise? But yes! When the starting song had lasted for half the output, the song was broken off and went over to "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" from Cinderella. We turned around and went all the way back and just then the song was broken once more and went over to nothing less than "Wake me up" with Avicii. We had hidden confetti bombs and slammed these to the song and then danced out to the song with our entourage! This is something our guests were not prepared for and were very fun to hear about later, this was very much appreciated!
The best memory from the day
Josefin: The whole day is wonderful! But some small parts that stand out were, among other things, the first look photo session where we had acquired smoke bombs with color that we all would hold on during some pictures. But one of them hit wrong and one of the marshmallows got burnt and his whole shirt got colored. Luckily someone had an extra shirt!
A strong memory is also when I throw my bouquet and there was a real war on it. Three of the guests went in the ground and in the flower pots. But what we remember most of all is the day in it’s whole. It was a fantastic day with friends and family, nothing had been the same without them and all the help of the bridal party and toastmasters!
About the photographer Isabell N Wedin / Turturduva
Josefin: What a wonderful woman! SO easy to work with and she really caught everything and our whole feeling on the pictures. It's really worth spending a lot of money on a photographer on a day like this! We booked Isabell well in advance about 1.5 years before. After visiting both the wedding fair and various different websites for photographers, we were sure that Isabell would succeed with just the pictures we wanted. That she was easy and a little crazy made her fit us even more! Quiet and caring person who really can do her job!
Advice to other who are planning their wedding
Start planning early if you want the best vendors.
Try different dresses, your favorite may be something you haven't thought of yet.
Take a look at the watch and look around, try to memorize it all and find out that time does not fly away.
Hire a professional photographer. Even if friends can be good at photographing, just let these be friends' photographs for both you and the guest's sake.
Better buy more drinks than too little.
Create your own style, do not copy.
We think that you should not be afraid to dare to wish for a travel allowance, the guests understand that you already have everything.
In conclusion, we joined our story through our amazing honeymoon that went to Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando. Everything in the fairytales from start to finish, and now our real story has begun to write. Good luck to all of you future couples!
