September Wedding In The Cutest Chapel: Robert + Zeema
Robert and Zeema got married on a September’s day on Gotland, Sweden, 2018 and had their wedding in Kovik's chapel - the cutest little chapel on the west side of the island. Hanna Karlsson at Neas fotograf captured the day that we not get to be inspired by.
How the couple met
Zeema: We met during the Stockholm week in Visby. Robert was there and partyed and I worked in the closet. We started talking during the evening and changed numbers. We got engaged in Paris. Robert proposed to me when we ran across the Pont Alexandre III bridge, late to a restaurant.
When planning he wedding, we based many details on the theme (that was Gotland + the city of Norrtälje) and the mood and style we wanted. We also received inspiration and ideas from previous weddings we were guests at. Pinterest has also been a great tool when you needed inspiration.
Zeema: We chose Kovik's chapel for the wedding, mainly because it is so charming and the area is very nice. The chapel is not so "churchy", which suited us very well. Then that it is located right at a fishing camp and had an anchor at the altar (which symbolizes Norrtälje) made the puzzle pieces fall even more in place.
The ceremony was relaxed and fun. This is mainly thanks to our priest. He was easy going and had humor. Our host couple sang and played a song we had chosen and we and the bridal party danced out of the chapel.
Clothing and styling
Zeema: I knew what model and material I wanted. I also knew I wanted a dress from Ida Lanto. I have been following her for a long time and her dresses are pure magic. So when we had set the date of our wedding, I emailed her directly.
Robert had a harder time. He didn’t know if he wanted a suit or tuxedo. The choice of color was not entirely obvious either. But finally the choice fell on a navy blue tuxedo from Oscar Jacobson and we are very pleased with that.
Zeema: I chose a half up half down updo. My hair is naturally curly, but I like it best when it is straight so I straightened the hair and made some sloppy curls which we then attached with a buckle. When it comes to jewelry, I kept those I usually have everyday. That is, a camé necklace in gold that I received from my grandmother and my Cartier love bracelet in gold. Robert chose a pair of cufflinks in gold from Skultuna (knot) which is reminiscent of Roslagsknuten to attach to Norrtälje.
I wanted a small bouquet because I am quite petite myself. I chose roses in the colors red, pink and white because I like the color scheme and ivy. Again to link to the theme. Ivy is Gotland's landscape flower and roses for Roslagen.
About the photgrapher
The choice of photographer was easy. Hanna has photographed us on two occasions before the wedding and she has also photographed our friends at their wedding. Hanna is really good at capturing great opportunities and conveying emotions in her pictures. Since we knew her before the wedding, it made it very much easier for us to be so comfortable and relaxed with each other. The pictures became quite magical and we could not have been more satisfied.
Best memories from the day
Besides the fantastic atmosphere that prevailed all day, there are two things that stand out. One is that my grandfather was with us, as our photographer captured in a nice picture. He past away two weeks after the wedding, so the moment means a lot more to us. Then it is of course the cows who came running after the wedding when our guests blew soap bubbles on us and two of the cows chose to try to mate in the background. It was both a fun memory and fun pictures that attract many laughs.
advise to othes who are planning their wedding
The tips we ourself got before are probably the most common, but it is true. ENJOY the day, because it goes by so fast. Then I would say that you should surround yourself with good people who you trust so that you can relax. We delegated a large part of the planning and dinner which was very nice since we were completely unaware if anything went wrong. You should not hook up too much on details. It'll be fine anyway. And - be selfish. Invite only those you want there and not those you "should" invite.
