Rustic September Wedding: Emma + Andreas
“The best party in the world!” - This is how Emma and Andreas chose to describe their wedding. Every wedding should be summed up like this, don’t you agree? The best party in the world, where loved ones come to celebrate your love, laugh, dance, eat and drink well, maybe get to know new friends and just thrive together during a night that you wish will never come to an end.
Emma and Andreas got married on September 1, 2018 and arranged a rustic wedding at MårtenPers Källa in the sound of Sweden. One of our earliest weddings that we published at Sisters in Law shortly after we launched was a wedding from the same place: Bohemian wedding in rustic barn: Linnea and Joshua. Ever since, MårtenPers Källa has been on our top list of awesome wedding venues in Sweden and you will understand why soon.
The bride and groom wanted, like so many other brides and grooms before them, capture their day through pictures from a professional wedding photographer. Emma and Andreas chose the Gothenburg-based wedding photographer Frkn Falkman and we are now looking forward to see the picture from the day and to read all about their story.
how the couple met
The bride Emma tells us: We met through Tinder for almost 3 years ago. At that time I was pretty (a lot) tired of dating and felt it was time to uninstall that app. But, then I chose to give it one last chance when I matched with Andreas. So, a late Saturday evening, after I had been eating and drinking a few glasses of wine with a friend, I wrote to Andreas and told him that I had an offer. He could choose to meet me within 30 minutes or I would go home and sleep and then uninstall Tinder completely. It was pretty harsh written by me, but I was so tired of dating without finding the right one. But I was lucky! He wanted to see me and it took no more than 30 minutes before he was in place. It 'clicked' right away and we sat up all night talking. I still remember that night as something absolutely amazing. The next morning Andreas went to buy breakfast for us and since then we have basically lived together.
Emma: Pretty soon after Andreas and I met I was absolutely sure I wanted to live with him forever. It went incredibly fast but I knew it was right. The more I thought about it, I got excited on the idea that I would propose to him.
So, in the morning on Andreas's birthday almost 2 years ago, I woke him up with presents and a card. On the card I had written a few words about how happy I am to be with him, and at the end of the text I wrote 'Do you want to marry me?' I don't think he'd expected me to do that at all, especially at that time so it became a very emotional and enjoyable moment.
The choice of clothing
Emma: I was absolutely determined from the beginning that I wanted a custom made dress. I had a picture in my head how I wanted my dress to look; simple and timeless in the design, in genuine silk for a nice fall and luxurious feel. I am super happy about the result! Andreas chose to invest in a tailor-made suit and we both felt so stylish all day so it couldn't have been better.
the bridal bouquet
Emma: My bridal bouquet and other flower decoration was made by a florist nearby. We had a short meeting with them before the wedding where I showed a couple of inspirational pictures of how I wanted my bouquet to look and then I gave them completely free hands to create something that suited. And they truly fulfilled my rather high expectations! They are really skilled and they understood exactly what I wanted.
Ceremony in an old theatre
Emma: We got married at MårtenPers Källa and could not be more satisfied with this fantastic place situated right by the sea in the south of Sweden. What a place! The ceremony took place in a little theater. We had a non church marriage and we are so happy with how relaxed and nice it was. It is truly an incredible place with a sea view that made us all speechless.
About the photographer Frkn Falkman
Emma: I found Amanda Falkman on Instagram and fell for her imagery. I really liked the fact that the pictures weren’t typical posing ones and with strong lighting. I loved that they instead was more artistic and I really experience Amanda as an artist. She has an incredible ability to see small details everywhere that creates amazing images.
Neither I nor Andreas are comfortable with standing in front of the camera, but Amanda really made us feel relaxed and made it feel so simple and fun. She is really quite phenomenal!
Best memories from the day
Emma: Our best memory is from just before the wedding. We hid with our bridesmaid and best men in a small room behind the stands where all the guests sat. The legs felt like spaghetti. It was a fantastic feeling that got even better when the music (Dreams with The Cranberries) started at full volume in front of the guests. The feeling when we went up the stage and turned around and saw all the nice people who were there for our sake is indescribable.
Emma: It was important for us to make sure that all guests felt comfortable and relaxed, that the food and wine would be something extra, and to have a well-stocked bar. The wedding would be a taste experience and a really fun party! In addition, we decided to have a live band who played at the party. A choice that we are incredibly pleased with.
Advice to those who are planning their weddings now
We booked a venue, photographer, catering and live band quite quickly after we decided that we were going to get married and we are so very happy about it. We really got exactly what we wanted because we booked it in good time and therefore the planning felt easy because we had all the 'big' stuff in place directly and that is really our best tip. It saves so much worry and stress.
We also want to advice you to book a good live band. If you have a budget where a band can fit, it is really worth it. It will be such a fun party!
