Relaxed Destination Wedding At Mallorca: Louise + Micke

January is a month when many travel to warmer latitudes and we must admit that we at Sisters in Law are dreaming of the heat right now as well! However, we do get a bit warmer thanks to these pictures from Mallorca, where Louise and Micke chose to arrange their wedding. With pictures from the wedding photographer Ateljé Lena and the story from the bride Louise, we are excited to start this week with this wonderful love story!

Mediterranean Wedding

How the couple met

Louise: We met through common friends at a local restaurant. We have two completely different perceptions of how the evening progressed, but the result is that we became a couple after a few months.

Micke celebrated my birthday on May 8 with the words: "I'm just going to do this once and I have terrible pain in my knees so I ask you to answer quickly and then help me up." 2 weeks later we went to Cambodia and when we all alone watching the sun rise over the forest on Phnom Bakheng also called "Top of the world" Micke says: - " I realize that maybe I should have proposed to you up here right now, but then had I risked forgetting your birthday every year and my IKEA kitchen is not too bad either.”

We had thoughts of getting married earlier, but somehow it didn’t happen. We got two amazing children and I wanted to wait so they could attend and remember mom and dad's wedding. Exactly 10 years after the engagement on Tuesday 8/5, we got married on the island of Mallorca, with our closest friends and family. Just as we wanted it.

The Bridal Wear

Louise: Early on, I decided that I would have a short and simple white dress for the shoes I had already bought from my favorite shoe designer Jimmy Choo. But when I told Gunilla who owns Hvita Vackra in Ängelholm, Sweden, that I was getting married, she kindly asked me to try a two part combo from By Malina / Zetterberg Couture. It was a perfect fit and I have to admit that sometimes it is better to put your trust in the hands of those who are experts on their job. That two-piece dress was perfect!

Styling

Louise: I contacted Karolina who is Swedish and works at “Vacker Mallorca”. I went down to Mallorca the month before we got married to steer up all the details and we clicked right away and I felt "I will be able to trust her 100%". Karolina arranged with a make up artist and they both came home to me in the morning at 11 am. I had emailed some inspirational photos to Karolina a few months before the wedding. But then I actually let the pros work. I said: - Do something in this style but above all something you think looks good on me.

Again, I feel that you should let those who are experts do their job and trust their expertise. We had an open dialogue in the 3 hours we had together and the result was perfect and held all night!

A Mediterranean Wedding

Louise: We have always loved Mallorca and have our own small apartment on the island. Because we were getting married in Mallorca, we wanted the wedding to breathe Mediterranean. We wanted to be barefoot, drink Sangria and just be ourselves just as we always are when we are on this amazing island. Therefore we also had free clothing for our guests so that they could feel like them selves as well. The wedding mirrored Mallorca.

Mood Beach has always been one of our favorite restaurants. The food is fantastic, the service is first class and the location is absolutely magical. The sea is just outside the big windows and it feels both cozy and magnificent at the same time. When we started talking with the owner about having a wedding in Mallorca, she said: "But why do you just not get married here?". So we did.

About the wedding photographer

Louise: Lena has been a very good friend for many years and it was an obvious choice that Lena was to photograph our wedding. I love the unique feeling she finds in each photograph and her way of capturing an interesting story in each picture. I also wanted to go outside the box and Lena were of course included in the thought. I am not at all comfortable when it comes to standing in front of a camera but Lena's professional skills made it easy and she got us relaxed and we had fantastic fun time spent at Cala Cap Falco.

The Bridal Bouquet

Louise: I wanted something unusual, so my best friend made the bridal bouquet out of brooches, hairpins and old jewelry. A little borrowed, a little new and a little blue.

The Ceremony

Louise: We actually got married at home for legal reasons, which made it possible to arrange the ceremony anywhere. We had chosen to walk down the stairs to the beach together. Our two children stood and waited for us to go the last bit to the ceremony together.

Angela who owns Mood held the ceremony and we read our own vows where we promised each other to always be best friends and tell each other that we loved each other every day. To help each other and support each other in the best way. We chose to let our guests drop 50 white helium balloons to finish our wedding. We did this while Chris Brown's "Forever" was played.

Advise to others who are planning their wedding

  • Don't think about how it should be, but think about how YOU want it. Dare to go outside the box!

  • Dare to ask for help, you do not do everything yourself.

  • Trust the experts and dare to ask for their opinion on, for example, photography, dress, hair, make up, etc.

  • For us it was important that people would appreciate the whole day, so we made Goodie bags for all the guests which was incredibly appreciated. The bags contained a bottle of Cava, a bag of chips, chocolate, chewing gum and aspirin. With some printed stickers, we were able to give the bags and contents a personal touch without much cost.

  • The day before the wedding we had gathered everyone at another local favorite restaurant Mai Thai. We served good food and drinks to everyone and chose to call it: Our pre party. This made everyone know each other and get into the right mood for the next day.

  • The day after the wedding we chose to invite everyone to pizza and beer on the beach for lunch instead of traditional brunch. This was super appreciated and that was exactly what you were looking for after a long night. As one of the guests said: The perfect after party!
