Forest Wedding In The Heart Of Sweden: Astrid + Isak
Astrid and Isak got married on August 18, 2018 in the middle of Sweden, the same place where their history started in 2011. The theme for the wedding day was nature-oriented and rustic where they wanted to get a mix of both their home areas, Astrid with a dense forests and Isak with north of Sweden’s high mountain peaks. With forests, lakes and open fields, the couple were surrounded by both nature and their loved ones, this beautifully cloudy August day. The Swedish photographer Snowflake Photo was hired for the day and also brought Hasselströms as her second photographer. Enjoy these beautiful imagery along with a wedding story from the bride Astrid.
This is How the couple met
Astrid: We met in 2011 when I was 16, and Isak was 19 years old. Isak was born and raised in Kiruna, in the north of Sweden, but moved to Malung, where I grew up, to study at the Snowboard School. We had many common friends at the time but had not managed to meet each other until one evening in May when we both ended up at the same party. One month later, Isak went back to Kiruna to work all summer, but we kept in touch and it has ben us ever since then.
Finding a wedding dress
Astrid: I had a hard time find a dress that felt perfect. After much searching I finally bought a skirt from the Swedish designer Abby Waits, which I then sewed together with a top from ASOS, just three weeks before the wedding. I usually plan ahead, so this meant a lot of stress and a little panic BUT I finally got the dress I wanted all along!
Styling + accessories
Astrid: Sofia, a relative of mine, is an amazing hairdresser and after showing her some inspirational pictures I gave her free hands and I couldn't be more satisfied with the result. Worth mentioning is that it was very stormy throughout the day and yet my hair was in place all day!
About the photographer Christell Eberstein - Snowflake Photo
Astrid: I searched for a photographer during a long time, and finally I found Christell via Sisters in Law. What we fell for in Christell's imagery was her ability to capture emotions and also how she weaves nature in her portraits in a beautiful way. We are so happy that we decided on Christell! The pictures are far above expectations!
Astrid: The ceremony was warm and loving. The music was important for us and we wanted it to be a big part of the wedding. Isak is a big Bob Dylan fan, so my friend Marika sang “Make You Feel My Love” and then she sang Laleh's “Goliath” together with my bridesmaids, something that Isaac didn't know anything about, so it became quite emotional.
Astrid: I also surprised Isak with a musician who came in and played "Äppelbo gånglåt" on violin as we walked out of the church. Isak’s surprised and happy face is one of my strongest memories of that day!
Advice to other who are planning their wedding
If you, like us, want a a description of all guests on the dinner table, my tip is to really start in time as this takes so much more time than you might think.
And then, I know it sounds like a cliché, but don't stress over the small things! All you will remember from the day is all the love and joy by having all your loved ones gathered to celebrate your love. Try to see the wedding planning as part of the journey and enjoy doing this together! :)
